Il campo di Auschwitz-Birkenau (per quei pochi che non lo sapessero) si trova in Polonia, e viene visitato ogni anno da milioni di persone,, in memoria dei fatti che lo hanno visto protagonista.

La ferrovia che porta al campo, ha portato centinaia di migliaia di vittime, in gran parte ebrei, quasi quotidianamente dentro i confini del campo, da cui poi tragicamente (come si diceva allora) uscivano per il camino.

In questo campo di sterminio (non di concentramento come poteva essere Dachau) sono passati o hanno perso la vita almeno un milione di persone, principalmente tra il 1942 e il 45, ma le prime deportazioni di massa erano già avvenute introrno al 1940.

Il filmato mostra la tragica grandezza del campo di sterminio, dal portene di entrata dei treni, alla famosa porta con la scritta "Arbeit Macht Frei", alla infinita serie di capannoni e dormitori, che solamente ripresi dall'alto, rendono l'idea di quali fossero le proporsioni del campo.
Particolare la ripresa tr i Blocchi 10 e 11, i cosiddetti Blocchi della morte, in cui avvenivano le esecuzioni.

Melanconico, e tristemente crudo, dovrebbe far pensare o quantomeno NON dimenticare quale fosse l'abominio di una certo pensiero politico.

Una curiosità: prima di essere un campo di sterminio, gli edifici erano usati dall'esercito polacco, come scuderie per i cavalli.

Black è morto ieri all’età di 53 anni, due settimane dopo essere rimasto ferito in un incidente stradale.

l cantante e poeta di Liverpool è stato vittima di un incidente in Irlanda il 10 gennaio ed è rimasto per giorni in coma pilotato.
La notizia della morte è stata dal suo agente.

When we first heard Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” we were inspired by its message. In a world where we too often talk about our differences, we have at least one thing in common. We all struggle. Not in the same way, nor at the same level, but we all want a fighting chance. And we all share in one gift: The will to make the most of our lives. To take what we’ve been given and turn it into something better could be considered the sentient measuring stick of success. But to do so seldom is simple and more often requires we fight. Not against each other. But against the current threatening to drown the ambition in us. 

There is tremendous purpose in struggle. It is when the struggle becomes so fierce that we must fight to swim or sink. John Newton, who penned “Amazing Grace,” worked on a slave trader ship and condoned inhuman atrocities. As his ship was on the verge of being torn apart in a violent storm he called out for Grace. Once his feet were again planted on firm soil he determined to change. His covenant was written into these words,

“I once was lost, but now I’m found; was blind, but now I see.”

Grace is the defining moment when we face and fight a monster poised to define us or destroy us. 

This song and video for us was a struggle, but a beautifully defining one. We chose the Scottish culture to depict the dichotomy between Grace and struggle. Who else is tough enough and yet delicate enough to don a kilt in battle? And the Scottish pipe and drum are the ultimate conveyors of melody and cadence. One represents Grace, the other the indomitable fight. Our dream was to film one of the most iconic castles on the Earth, Eilean Donan Castle in Dornie, Scotland.

Grace somehow made this video possible. We had to postpone our trip to Scotland several times, and when we could no longer postpone we had to leap in faith because just before we left everything had fallen through. It wasn’t until we were in the moment and had to let go of our pride and anxiety when everything Gracefully came together. 

We recognize that this video is far less important than a fight for one’s life. We hope this music will serve as an anthem for those that are in the fight of their lives. We have people close to us who inspire us every day with their grace in the face of such a struggle. This video is dedicated to them: The superheroes in our lives that don’t wear capes, but wear a smile under villainous pressure — those that have been through so many defining moments that they are intimately acquainted with Grace and know it to be close cousins with hope. We pray “Grace will bring them safely through.”

Era il 16 ottobre del 1978 quando Karol Józef Wojtyla fu eletto Papa. Il Papa dei giovani. E nell' anno 1979 anche il mondo della disco gli dedicò un brano era "Freddy The Flying Dutchman" (Federico l'Olandese Volante) dj famosissimo in quegli anni insieme ad un gruppo chiamato "Sistina Band" ad incidere appunto "Wojtyla disco dance". Certo è un pò riduttivo visto che oggi sarà Beatificato ma è da queste piccole cose che si riscontra l' immagine positiva che quest'uomo ha regalato a tutti noi.

Japan is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. This is my Japan. This is one of the many reasons why I love Japan. I shot this in many locations around Japan in the summer of 2009. Some of the location include Tokyo, Matsuyama, Imabari, Nagano, Gifu, and Ishizushisan.

I started this as a personal project to try and capture the beauty that I see in Japan. It started as just that...

But now that I have finished, I see it only as a beginning. This video, along with SAIJO MATSURI (vimeo.com/7458088) is just the start of a much larger project that I have now decided to do.
